Regional Court of Wels

The regional court of Wels (short: LG Wels ) is one of 20 regional courts in Austria .

As a regional court, it is responsible for dealing with appeals against decisions of the district courts in the second instance . In principle, it is responsible for civil matters in the event of a value in dispute exceeding € 15,000. However, certain cases fall within the jurisdiction of the district courts regardless of the amount in dispute. It is responsible for criminal matters in the first instance if the threat of punishment is more than a year. Certain criminal cases fall under his jurisdiction even if the threat of punishment is lower.

The court of appeal for decisions by the Wels Regional Court is the  Linz Higher Regional Court .

Until 1993 the official name was District Court Wels .

The regional court of Wels is located in the building Maria-Theresia-Straße 12.
