history
The Steyr Regional Court has been located in the Spitalskystraße 1 building since the end of 1986, which houses the Steyr District Court and the Steyr Public Prosecutor's Office.
The regional court of Steyr was originally housed in the district court building (Stadtplatz 13) in Steyr. This building was erected in 1847 as a " district office building " and was initially the seat of the kk district court . Nearby (Berggasse 6) is the Steyr Prison as a judicial prison . In 1912/1913 the courthouse was expanded and remodeled, but a further increase planned in 1962 failed for reasons of urban preservation.
Due to the increasing scarcity of space, it was decided at the end of the 1970s to vacate the site on the town square and move to a new building on Spitalskystraße. The new courthouse started operations on December 23, 1986. The old courthouse at Stadtplatz 13 is now used as Hartlauer Passage.
Until 1993 the official name was the district court of Steyr .
