Aistersheim is a municipality with 921 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020) in Upper Austria in the Grieskirchen district in the Hausruckviertel . The community is located in the judicial district of Grieskirchen .

geography

Aistersheim is located at an altitude of 437 m in the Hausruckviertel. The extension is 5 km from north to south and 3.7 km from west to east. The total area is 11.1 km². 26.1% of the area is forested, 66.7% of the area is used for agriculture.

Population development

In 1991 the community had 734 inhabitants according to the census, 786 inhabitants in 2001, 798 inhabitants in 2005 and 833 inhabitants on April 1, 2009. With a positive birth balance and positive migration balance , the population continued to grow to 841 in 2011 and to 892 in 2018 and 902 in 2019. This results in a population growth of 22.89% between 1991 and 2019.

history

Originally located in the eastern part of the Duchy of Bavaria, the place belonged to the Duchy of Austria since the 12th century. The moated castle Aist was built by Dietmar von Aist, known as a minstrel, around the year 1136 and was a border fortification to Bavaria. Since 1490 the place has been assigned to the Principality of Austria ob der Enns .

During the Napoleonic Wars , the place was occupied several times.

Since 1918 the place belongs to the federal state of Upper Austria. After the annexation of Austria to the German Reich on March 13, 1938, the place belonged to the Gau Oberdonau . After 1945 the restoration of Upper Austria took place.

The community has been part of the judicial district of Grieskirchen since January 1, 2003, previously it belonged to the judicial district of Haag am Hausruck .

In the last municipal council election in 2015, the ÖVP got 47.4 percent or 6 seats, the SPÖ got 18.1 percent or two seats and the FPÖ got 34.5 percent or 5 seats.

Blazon : Divided by silver and black and split twice. The community colors are blue and white.

Since September 18, 1982, the community has had the coat of arms of the ancient Bavarian noble family of the Aistersheimers, who first came into the light of history in a Passau document dated November 11, 1146 and were in the possession of the castle and rule of Aistersheim until their extinction in 1426.

  • Aistersheim Castle : The moated castle, first mentioned in 1159, was owned by the Lords of Aistersheim until 1426, then owned by the Hohenfelder until 1824. The current construction of the Renaissance castle goes back to a renovation in the years 1520–1600.
  • Parish church Aistersheim : From 1699 to 1700 the church was rebuilt in the baroque style by Jakob Pawanger from Passau.

Infrastructure

Aistersheim is crossed by the Innkreis Autobahn A 8 in the southwest of the municipality . In total there are 3 km of motorway that run through the community of Aistersheim. The Aistersheim service station is also the last one on the A8 before the border crossing in Suben in the municipality.

The Aistersheim fire department was founded in 1887 and celebrated its 130th anniversary in 2017.
