Eschenau im Hausruckkreis is a municipality with 1061 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020) in Upper Austria in the Grieskirchen district in the Hausruckviertel . The community is located in the judicial district of Eferding .

geography

Eschenau in the Hausruckkreis lies at an altitude of 380 m in the Hausruckviertel. The extension is 6.7 km from north to south, and 5.4 km from west to east. The total area is 16.7 km², 22.2% of the area is forested, 70.7% of the area is used for agriculture.

The community consists of the only cadastral community Eschenau.

Official description of the municipal coat of arms: "Split of silver and green with an ash leaf adjoining above and below with nine feathers in alternating colors and a black stem."

The community colors are green and white.

The ash leaf in the municipal coat of arms awarded in 1981 symbolizes the place name as a talking coat of arms .

history

Originally located in the eastern part of the Duchy of Bavaria, the place belonged to the Duchy of Austria since the 12th century. Since 1490 it has been assigned to the Principality of Austria ob der Enns . During the Napoleonic Wars , the place was occupied several times.

Since 1918 the place belongs to the federal state of Upper Austria. After the connection of Austria to the German Reich on 13 March 1938, the place to "Upper Danube" belonged. In 1945 Upper Austria was restored.

Mayor is Hannes Humer, Vice Mayor is Günther Haslehner, both from the ÖVP.

population

In 1991 the municipality had 1,195 inhabitants according to the census, in 2001 it had 1,174 inhabitants. Since the migration balance remained negative from 2001 to 2011 (-124) and could not be offset by the positive birth balance (+33), the population fell to 1,083 in 2011.
