Kematen am Innbach lies at an altitude of 350 m above sea level. A. in the Hausruckviertel. The extension is 5 km from north to south, and 4.9 km from west to east. The total area is 12.7 km². 15.7% of the area is forested, 73.2% of the area is used for agriculture.

history

Originally located in the eastern part of the Duchy of Bavaria , the place belonged to the Duchy of Austria since the 12th century . Documents from the years 1247 and 1249, which summarize the possessions of the Kremsmünster monastery , name the parish church Steinerkirchen for the first time. Since 1490 it has been assigned to the Principality of Austria ob der Enns . During the Napoleonic Wars , the place was occupied several times.

Since 1918 the place belongs to the federal state of Upper Austria . After the annexation of Austria to the German Reich on March 13, 1938, the place belonged to the Gau Oberdonau . In 1945 Upper Austria was restored.

Population development

In 1991 the community had 1,072 inhabitants according to the census, in 2001 it had 1,261 inhabitants. Since both the birth balance and the migration balance remained positive from 2001 to 2011 , the population grew to 1,345 people in 2011.

Blazon :

Divided seven times by red and silver ; in the middle a blue heart-shaped label , covered with the golden roman capital letter G.

The coat of arms was awarded by Emperor Ferdinand II in 1620 at the same time as the market survey. The red and white stripes are (however, placed diagonally to the left) the family coat of arms of the Polheimers , who were among the most prominent nobility families in the country. The letter in the "heart shield" is added in honor of Gundacker von Polheim , who obtained the market survey and the award of the coat of arms from the emperor.
