Pollham is a municipality in Upper Austria in the Grieskirchen district in the Hausruckviertel with 970 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020). The community is located in the judicial district of Grieskirchen .

geography

Pollham is around 380  m above sea level. A. on the upper reaches of the Polsenz (to the Innbach ). The extension is 5.1 km from north to south and 3.6 km from west to east. The total area is 11.2 km². 16.1% of the area is forested, 71.4% of the area is used for agriculture.

history

Originally located in the eastern part of the Duchy of Bavaria , the place belonged to the Duchy of Austria since the 12th century . Since 1490 it has been assigned to the Principality of Austria ob der Enns . During the Napoleonic Wars , the place was occupied several times. Since 1918 the place belongs to the federal state of Upper Austria . After the annexation of Austria to the German Reich on March 13, 1938, the place belonged to the Gau Oberdonau . After 1945 the restoration of Upper Austria took place.

On January 1st, 2019, the communities Michaelnbach , Pollham and St. Thomas began working together in an administrative community .

Population development

In 1991 the municipality had 866 inhabitants according to the census, in 2001 it had 914 inhabitants. The growth was due to the positive birth balance (+62) despite the slightly negative migration balance (–14). From 2001 to 2011 both balances were positive, so that the population increased to 989 people.

Since the 2015 elections, there has been a new municipal council with Mayor Ernst Mair (ÖVP) and Deputy Mayor Regina Waselmayr (ÖVP).

Split ; on the right in black a golden grate placed in stakes, on the left divided by silver and red seven times obliquely to the left .

The community colors are red and yellow .

The municipal coat of arms was awarded in 1973. The silver-red bars are the coat of arms of the Polheimers , whose ancestral home was in Pollham. The rust stands as an attribute of St. Lawrence for the parish patron.
