The place is about 4 kilometers north-east of Grieskirchen , on the Riedl which stripes eastwards between Polsenz and Trattnach north of Bad Schallerbach . The place extends for about 1 kilometer across the Hohenzug, with a hamlet in the north on Pollhamer municipality area on the Polsenz (here also Kolbingerbach ), and then in various scattered houses southwards almost to the Gebersdorfer Bach near Margarethen in Schlüßlberg. The localities of Wackersbuch and Egg are positioned in between so that the locality is divided into two parts.
The two localities comprise around 15 buildings with around 50 residents, only 3 of which are in Schlüßlberg.

In terms of landscape, the area is part of the Inn- and Hausruckviertel hill country .

history

Hornesberg originally only comprised the hill above the Polsenz in the 1820s, in the southern part is the Hornesser homestead (No. 4, Schlüßlberg), old farms in between are the Sierer and Hangeder ( No. 6, 7). On even older maps, the area is usually called Tegernbach , the original village, and belonged to the parish district of Grieskirchen in the Parz district commissioner .
