The judicial district of Frankenmarkt was created by a decree of the kk Oberlandesgericht Linz on July 4, 1850 and originally comprised the 33 tax communities Abtsdorf , Attersee , Berg , Eggenberg , Fornach , Forstern , Frankenburg , Frankenmarkt , Freudenthal , Freyn , Geretseck , Haberpoint , Hintersteining , Höhenwart , Högersteig , Hofberg , Kirchham , Lichtenbuch , Nussdorf , Oberschwand , Paping , Pfaffing , Redleiten , St. Georgen im Attergau , Stauf , Straß , Vöcklamarkt , Walchen , Walkering , Wallingen , Weißenkirchen and Wildenhaag .

In the course of the separation of the political and judicial administration from 1868, the judicial district together with the judicial districts Mondsee , Schwanenstadt and Vöcklabruck formed the district of Vöcklabruck .

Through the amalgamation of parishes, the number of parishes was gradually reduced to 13 parishes. On July 1, 2013, the judicial district was dissolved and the communities were assigned to the judicial district of Vöcklabruck .
