Forstern is a place in the Hausruckviertel of Upper Austria as well as a locality and cadastral municipality of the municipality of Pöndorf in the Vöcklabruck district . The village has almost 40 buildings with around 110 inhabitants, almost all of them in the village itself.

Geographical location

Forstern is located about 30 kilometers northeast of Salzburg , 23½ kilometers west of Vöcklabruck and 10½ kilometers from Vöcklamarkt , 2½ kilometers northwest of Kirchham / Pöndorf . The village is located at the southern foot of the Kobernaußerwald in the Vöckla-Ager hill country at around 605  m above sea level. A. Height.

The much more extensive cadastral community Forstern with 1,817.5  hectares extends from beyond the Kirchhamer Bach , which flows south of the village, to the north of the Schwemmbach and the Rabenbach from the Kobernaußerwald in Hocheck , and over the Florianikapelle  ( 691  m ), the Meisterholz  ( 711  m ) and Kalteis  ( 734  m ) to just before Seppenröth (municipality of Fornach ) in the northwest. The cadastral area also includes the village of Pading and the Schwemmbach – Rabenbach houses on the right side of Hocheck.

Wind energy priority zone Kobernaußerwald Süd

In 2011, the Upper Austria Wind Master Plan identified the Kobernaußerwald Süd priority zone in the Forsten mountain area. Here an expansion of wind energy appears economically, ecologically and in terms of landscape protection justifiable.

The zone comprises the ridge of the Kalteis southeast above Hocheck in the Floriani-Kapelle area , about 3½ kilometers in extent.

Similar to the Munderfing wind farm, which is currently under construction  , a system with strong public participation is planned. The plans will continue to be carried out by the Munderfing energy workshop , which also looked after the Silventus wind farm in the Wiener Höhe area (which could not be approved) .
