Blazon :

“In black a silver staff ; on the right a golden, left-turned, red armored and crowned lion , on the left a golden, red armored and tongued eagle . "

The community colors are yellow-red-white .

The coat of arms, awarded in 1974, with the Palatinate lion and the Upper Austrian eagle reminds of the historical border between the two countries, which ran through the middle of today's municipality until the Innviertel was acquired in 1779. The moat , symbolized by the white stick , formed part of the border .

Economy in Infrastructure

traffic

Pöndorf is important as a local traffic junction: to the south, today's Wiener Straße B 1 passes , which overcomes the pass from the Vöcklatal (Traun) to the Mattig valley to the west on Rathberg . Here the Pöndorfer Straße L 1282 branches off to the northwest, which meets the Kobernaußer Straße L 508 6½ km further at Höcken . When it was expanded over the Kobernaußerwald, the further route - Schneegattern or Pöndorf - was unclear, so that the expanded route ends abruptly in Höcken to this day.

The Westbahn has a stop at Pöndorf bei Volkerding .

Wind power

Pöndorf has long been under discussion as a location for wind energy: Upper Austria's first 100 m tower has been up on Steiglberg in the Kobernaußerwald since 2002.

The Silventus wind farm in the Wiener Höhe area between Pöndorf, Lohnsburg and St. Johann am Walde - planned by Energiewerkstatt Munderfing and Bundesforsten 13 2 MW plants (including 7 wind turbines in the Pöndorf area) - could not be approved in 2011.

With the Upper Austria wind master plan, however, the ridge southeast above Hocheck in the Floriani-Kapelle area, Forstern disaster area , was designated as a priority zone location Kobernaußerwald Süd .
