Rustorf is a municipality in Upper Austria in the Vöcklabruck district in the Hausruckviertel with 2182 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020). The community is located in the judicial district of Vöcklabruck .

geography

Rustorf is located at an altitude of 387 m in the Hausruckviertel. The extension is 5.1 km from north to south and 5.6 km from west to east. The total area is 13.6 km². 31.6% of the area is forested, 55.1% of the area is used for agriculture.

history

Originally located in the eastern part of the Duchy of Bavaria, the place belonged to the Duchy of Austria since the 12th century. Since 1490 it has been assigned to the Principality of Austria ob der Enns .

During the Napoleonic Wars , the place was occupied several times.

Since 1918 the place belongs to the federal state of Upper Austria. After the annexation of Austria to the German Reich on March 13, 1938, the place belonged to the Gau Oberdonau . After 1945 the restoration of Upper Austria took place.

The community was part of the Schwanenstadt judicial district until the end of 2004 and became part of the Vöcklabruck judicial district on January 1, 2005.

Population development

In 1991 the community had 1,900 inhabitants according to the census, in 2001 it had 1,988 inhabitants.

  • Parish church Rüstorf : The sacred building, consecrated to St. Mary, is a two-aisled late Gothic hall church from the 15th century, although the chapel, the choir and the north gate date from the High Gothic 14th century. The baroque high altar with the figures of the apostles was erected around 1730. The right side altar, an Antonius altar, was built around 1751, the left, an Anna altar, dates from the middle of the 19th century. Riistorf was a branch church of Schwanenstadt until 1784 and became an independent parish in the course of the Josephine reforms.

Blazon : Split at an angle; above a silver paddle wheel in red, below in silver three green steps touching the dividing line, inside a silver daisy with green stamens. The community colors are green-white-red.

The municipal coat of arms, awarded in 1979, symbolizes the economic structure of the municipality. The paddle wheel stands for industry that was established at the end of the 19th century and, in particular, for the use of water power by the electricity works on the Ager , while the marguerite refers to agriculture. The three levels represent the terraces sloping down towards the Ager.
