Manning is a municipality in Upper Austria in the Vöcklabruck district in the Hausruckviertel with 787 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020). The community is located in the judicial district of Vöcklabruck .

geography

Manning is located at around 500 m above sea level in the Hausruckviertel. The extension is 4.1 km from north to south and 5.3 km from west to east. The total area is 10 km². 20% of the area is forested and 70% of the area is used for agriculture.

history

Originally located in the eastern part of the Duchy of Bavaria, the place belonged to the Duchy of Austria since the 12th century. Since 1490 it has been assigned to the Principality of Austria ob der Enns .

During the Napoleonic Wars , the place was occupied several times.

Since 1918 the place belongs to the federal state of Upper Austria. After the annexation of Austria to the German Reich on March 13, 1938, the place belonged to the Gau Oberdonau . In 1945 Upper Austria was restored.

The community was part of the Schwanenstadt judicial district until the end of 2004 and became part of the Vöcklabruck judicial district on January 1, 2005.

The town colors are blue and white.

The municipal coat of arms, awarded in 1986, refers to the agricultural character of the municipality with the cowslips, the three number stands for the affiliation of the municipality to three parishes (Atzbach, Ottnang, Ungenach). The double cross and grain sheaf symbolize the Kreuthererkapelle, which was built in 1766 in memory of the farmer Balthasar Humer who died there, and whose roof has the shape of a corn almond. The wave bar stands for the Ottnanger Redlbach , which flows through the municipality from north to south.

The municipal council has a total of 13 members. Since the municipal council and mayoral elections in Upper Austria in 2015 , all municipal councils in Manning belong to the ÖVP.

In 1991 the municipality had 763 inhabitants according to the census, in 2001 it had 829 inhabitants.
