Niederthalheim is a municipality in Upper Austria in the Vöcklabruck district in the Hausruckviertel with 1098 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020). The community is located in the judicial district of Vöcklabruck .
geography
Niederthalheim is located at an altitude of 431 m in the Hausruckviertel. The extension is 6.4 km from north to south and 5.5 km from west to east. The total area is 15.5 km². 9.7% of the area is forested, 81.3% of the area is used for agriculture. The municipality is traversed from north to south by the Kroißbach .

Blazon : Increased split; above in gold a black, red armored and fire-breathing dragon, below in green a golden mill wheel. The community colors are green-yellow-black.
The dragon in the coat of arms awarded in 1985 indicates the parish patronage of St. Margareta , the mill wheel already used on an old municipal temple stands for the historical importance of the mill economy.
Population development
In 1991 the municipality had 1,068 inhabitants according to the census, in 2001 it had 1,076 inhabitants.
history
Originally located in the eastern part of the Duchy of Bavaria, the place belonged to the Duchy of Austria since the 12th century. Since 1490 it has been assigned to the Principality of Austria ob der Enns .
During the Napoleonic Wars , the place was occupied several times.
Since 1918 the place belongs to the federal state of Upper Austria. After Austria was annexed to the German Reich on March 13, 1938, the place belonged to the Upper Danube Gau. After 1945, Upper Austria was restored.
Milling was once very important in Niederthalheim. There were once seven mills in the municipality of Niederthalheim. Today only one is in operation. It should also be mentioned that the coal railway transported the mined coal from 1854 to 1965 from the Kohlgrube mining area via Niederthalheim to Breitenschützing station, from where it was further transported via the Western Railway. For decades people were also transported on the coal railway. There were also two stops in the community. The community was part of the Schwanenstadt judicial district until the end of 2004 and became part of the Vöcklabruck judicial district on January 1, 2005.
