politics

For cost reasons, Pitzenberg has joined forces with the neighboring communities of Pühret , Rutzenham and Oberndorf near Schwanenstadt to form an administrative community. The joint municipal office is in Oberndorf. In the course of this cooperation, a joint building yard for the four communities was also built, which is housed in Rutzenham. On the basis of an initiative review of the savings potential, the State Audit Office recommended in 2015 that the four municipalities should be merged.

With the 2015 election, the municipal council with a total of 13 members has the following distribution: 6 ÖVP, 4 SPÖ and 3 FPÖ.

mayor
  • 1996–2010 Gustav Höchsmann (ÖVP)
  • since 2011 Franz Haghofer (ÖVP)

Due to his great commitment in the construction of the new municipal office as well as in the construction of the joint building yard (free planning and construction management by the mayor) and the construction of a new multi-purpose building in Rutzenham (fire brigade, football and tennis in one building, also free planning by the mayor) The former mayor Gustav Höchsmann was awarded the Golden Merit of the Republic of Austria by decree of May 3, 2016 by the Upper Austrian governor Josef Pühringer .
