Atzbach is a municipality in Upper Austria in the Vöcklabruck district in the Hausruckviertel with 1217 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020). The community is located in the judicial district of Vöcklabruck .
geography
Atzbach is located at an altitude of 464 m in the Hausruckviertel. It extends from north to south 6 km, from west to east 5.2 km. The total area is 14.2 km². 11.3% of the area is forested, 78.2% of the area is used for agriculture.

Population development
In 1991 the municipality had 1,060 inhabitants according to the census, in 2001 it had 1,154 inhabitants. In 2019, 1,207 inhabitants were determined. This corresponds to a growth of 13.87 percent since 1991.
coat of arms
Blazon : In gold, a black sloping bar covered with a silver wavy bar, from which a green linden leaf grows above the sloping bar, bent downwards. The community colors are green-yellow-green.
The municipal coat of arms, awarded in 1975, is based in a simplified form on the coat of arms of the family of followers who owned Köppach Castle until the 16th century. The added wavy bar refers to the place name.
history
Originally located in the eastern part of the Duchy of Bavaria , the place belonged to the Duchy of Austria since the 12th century. Since 1490 it has been assigned to the Principality of Austria ob der Enns .
A very detailed artificial cave with two floors and several chambers was discovered in the village of Reichering. The riding sword that was found while clearing the upper part of the cave dates from the time of the Thirty Years War . The complex was described in detail by the cave researcher Lambert Karner , who also made a cave plan.
During the Napoleonic Wars , the place was occupied several times.
Since 1918 the place belongs to the federal state of Upper Austria. After the annexation of Austria to the German Reich on March 13, 1938, the place belonged to the Gau Oberdonau . After 1945 the restoration of Upper Austria took place.
The community was part of the Schwanenstadt judicial district until the end of 2004 and became part of the Vöcklabruck judicial district on January 1, 2005.
