Katzenberg Castle (Atzbach) is located in the municipality of Atzbach in the Vöcklabruck district in Upper Austria (address: Katzenberg 2).

history

The castle was probably built around 1600 and belonged to Köppach Castle after the land register of 1673 . The Jörgers used it as a hunting lodge. After the death of Helmhard IX. Jörger got the property through his daughter Anna Magdalena as marriage property to Franz Albrecht Graf Harrach. Shortly afterwards the rule was sold to the brother-in-law David Ungnad von Weißenwolff . In 1722, Katzenberg went to Johann Wilhelm Fürst Trautson again as the marriage property of the daughter Maria Josef von Weißenwolff . In 1744 the property came to Karl Anton Fürst Auersperg as bridal property of the daughter Maria von Trautson . With the marriage of Prince Vinzenz Auersperg's daughter Karoline, the small lordship passed to Landgrave Johann Nepomuk Fürstenberg and in 1904 to Landgrave Eduard Egon Fürstenberg.

From 1900 to 1925 Katzenberg belonged to Hofrat Langhans. His daughter married Baron Sachsenhofer. It was owned by the castle until 1950. The Zenninger family followed her. Since 1962 Katzenberg has been owned by Franz Six, the son-in-law of the previous owners, the Zenninger family, who run a farm here.

Katzenberg Castle stands on a hill. It is a two-storey building with a rectangular floor plan and a hipped roof. The building underwent major changes in the 19th century. Small gables are attached to the five-axis east and west sides. There is a sundial on the east facade. On the three-axis north facade there is a sgraffito with the Jörger coat of arms from 1976 (artist F. Bucar).
