Franz Quirchmayr-Katerl

Franz Quirchmayr-Katerl (born October 28, 1913 in Oberachmann ; † March 3, 2000 in Schwanenstadt ) was an Austrian farmer and politician and as such a member of the Upper Austrian state parliament from 1961 to 1973 .

Franz Quirchmayr-Katerl was born on October 28, 1913 in the then still independent municipality of Oberachmann, which was dissolved in 1939, in the vicinity of Lenzing as the son of a farmer. In later years he took over his parents' business and was also active in local politics from the late 1940s. After the ÖVP member had been councilor of the Pitzenberg community from 1949 to 1955 , he was elected mayor of the small community with effect from May 27, 1955.

Between 1953 and 1973 he was chairman of the supervisory board of the Glatzing-Rüstorf electricity cooperative and was also the district chairman of the farmers' union in Vöcklabruck from 1960 to 1973 . From 1963 to 1982 he was also chairman of the Schwanenstadt warehouse cooperative . As early as 1965, he worked for the Upper Austria Horse Breeding Association as chairman of the ARGE of Austrian Warmbloods . In 1980 he was promoted to President of the Central Association of Horse Breeders in Austria . In addition, Quirchmayr-Katerl was a member of the ÖVP regional party leadership Upper Austria, chairman of the Association of Electrical Cooperatives of Upper Austria, member of the supervisory board of the Raiffeisen Association of Upper Austria, board member of the Schwanenstadt dairy cooperative, and chairman of the flood protection association for the greater Schwanenstadt area.

In parallel to his political career as Mayor of Pitzenberg, Quirchmayr-Katerl was elected as a member of the Upper Austrian state parliament in 1961. He belonged to this from November 17, 1961 to November 16, 1967 ( 19th legislative period ), and from November 17, 1967 to November 15, 1973 ( 20th legislative period ) for a period of twelve years. Here he appeared primarily as a member of the Committee on Constitution and Administration. On June 3, 1986 he resigned as mayor of Pitzenberg after 31 years.

The married father of five children died on March 3, 2000 at the age of 86 in Schwanenstadt.
