The Kirchhamer Bach , also spelled Kirchhamerbach , is a small brook in the border area between Flachgau and Hausruckviertel on the border between Salzburg and Upper Austria .

Run and landscape

The stream rises 2½ kilometers northeast of Straßwalchen am Krenwald , a ridge upstream of the Hausruck and Kobernaußerwald train . The source area is located directly on the state border at Igelsberg , Utzweih (both municipality of Lengau, Upper Austria) and Baierham (municipality of Straßwalchen, state of Salzburg), officially on the Lengau area a few meters from the border line. The Kranzinger earthworks is located here (special earth production ).

The brook then runs eastwards over the Straßwalchen area in a valley between Krenwald north and the Riedel von Watzlberg south, on which the B 1 runs. It flows through Bambach , where it changes back to Upper Austria in the Pöndorf area , and then passes south below Forstern , Bergham and Kirchham .

Directly south of Kirchham, near Sonnleiten on the B 1, Kirchhamerbach and the Weinbach come together , coming from the right (south) of the Hochfeld pass landscape between Straßwalchen and Vöcklatal. From here on the name is unclear. You still take the Eisbach , pass the village Schwaigern north and after another 2 kilometers they flow into the Vöckla , shortly after the point where its upper course from the Mondsee area turns from the south to the east (junction of the L1281  Vöcklatalstraße from the B. 1), almost 1½ km west of Vöcklamarkt between Auleiten and Schwertfern already in the Vöcklamarkt municipality.

The stream forms the southern border of the Kobernaußerwald to the Mattigtal - Vöcklataler gate landscape, in terms of landscape it is assigned to the Vöckla-Ager hill country .

History and naming

The name of the last section - whether Kirchhamerbach or Weinbach - is unclear in the hydrographic sources. The Kirchhamerbach is stationed at 11.712 kilometers from the mouth of the Vöckl to its headwaters , but the systematic waterway indicators give it as a tributary of the Weinbach. With regard to the current naming of the lower course, it can be assumed that the Kirchhamerbach was usually more important here due to the historical importance of the Kirchham village. On the other hand, there was an Austrian - Baier border area here until 1779 , and is still Salzburg-Upper Austria today, which makes the naming possible.

The uppermost part, between Krenwald and Watzl mountain that might already around 748 called Nezzeltal be, now is there the place Nößlthal the Franziszäische cadastral around 1830 are in today's L 1,281-branch Angerbach , and not listed the small headwaters from there anymore. Souvent 1857 then puts the name Angerbach to the Eisbach. The location of Weinbach at the confluence - as usual named after the flowing stream - is of recent date.

  2. The Krenwald is counted according to the Upper Austrian spatial structure to the Vöckla-Ager-Hügelland, also according to Trimmel to 1575 foreland between Flysch border and Vöckla , the southern border of the Kobernaußerwald becomes Vöckla up there to the west of Frankenmarkt - Kirchhamer Bach - Landgraben - road over Forstern and Kote 581 given to the Schwemmbach east of Schneegattern. Due to the complicated orographic and geological conditions in the area, the more coarse mountain structures usually simply show the B 1 as the border between the Alps and the Alpine foothills.

  4. The other streams in the room also show a variety of names: The upper Vöckla in the 17th century. Sprentzelbach , then Vöcklabach ; the Nössenbach 1877 (3rd regional record) Steiner Bach ; the Eisbach 1857 Angerbach (see below).
