Lohnsburg am Kobernaußerwald is a market town in Upper Austria in the Ried im Innkreis district in the Innviertel with 2236 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020). The community is located in the judicial district of Ried im Innkreis .

geography

Lohnsburg is located in the Innviertel, on the northern roof of the Kobernaußerwald . The main town is 523 m above sea level. The extension of the municipality is 14.3 km from north to south, 10 km from west to east, the total area 39.5 km². 48.1% of the area is forested, 45.8% of the area is used for agriculture.

In 2016, the properties Bergham 4, 5, 6 and 7 were detached from Bergham-Lauterbach and the place name was changed to Lauterbach for the houses mentioned at the request of the population. Since then, Bergham has only consisted of farms no. 1 and 2.

The neighboring communities are, starting in the northwest and following clockwise: Mettmach , Mehrnbach , Neuhofen im Innkreis , Schildorn , Waldzell , Pöndorf (Vöcklabruck district), Lengau * (Braunau district) and St. Johann am Walde (Braunau district).

* Lengau is only adjacent in one point.

history

The place Lohnsburg can be found in 1153 as Lonespurch (so in a Passau land register ), 1160 as Lonsperch , later Lanspurch . The place name refers to a castle that the Kuchlers built and occupied around 900 as a show and defiance castle against incursions from the east on the 722 meter high Hochkuchlberg . The Hochkuchler were former district judges in Kuchl near Hallein and were subordinate to the Archdiocese of Salzburg . From 1450 onwards, the castle began to fall into disrepair, which today is only mentioned in a legend and in the place name.

Since the founding of the Duchy of Bavaria, the place was Bavarian until 1779 and came to Austria after the Treaty of Teschen with the Innviertel (then Innbaiern ). During the Napoleonic Wars briefly Bavarian again, it has been part of Upper Austria since 1816. In 1848 Lohnsburg became a political municipality.

After the annexation of Austria to the German Reich on March 13, 1938, the place belonged to the Gau Oberdonau . After 1945 the restoration of Upper Austria took place. In 1963, Lohnsburg became a tourist municipality and in 1967 a recreation village.

Since May 27, 1968, the community has been called Lohnsburg am Kobernaußerwald . In 1988 Lohnsburg was raised to a market town.

Lohnsburger Heimathaus

The Heimathaus museum project

In 1992 the former parish hall (1910) built in Art Nouveau style was completely renovated. Since then, Lohnsburg's Heimathaus has been located in the former offices .

The former primary school director Treiblmayr began collecting old tools, devices and objects from everyday farming as well as certificates and photos as early as the 1950s. The local history collection is now divided into several rooms. In the first room there is a weaving room, the second room deals with religious life in the community and in the country, the third houses a bibliographical collection about Lohnsburg. The fourth and last room is dedicated to the Kobernaußerwald, which played an important economic role in the life of the Lohnsburgers for many centuries.

music

The band of the community of Lohnsburg has been an important cultural component for decades. Concerts and events of the music band are not only popular in Lohnsburg, but throughout Austria.

The band was allowed to represent Upper Austria at the Austrian brass music competition in Feldkirchen in Carinthia in 2008 and was the Austrian national winner that year.

Cross-country and biathlon center

From April to November, cross-country athletes can use a training and competition track with a total length of 6,170 meters. It leads along the ridge of the Kobernaußerwald and is between 670 and 720 meters above sea level.

Ski lift

If there is enough snow, a drag lift and a children's lift are in operation on the Steiglberg in Stelzen.

Model airfield

There is a model airfield near the municipal border with Waldzell.

Fitness course

On the Herndlberg, the market town built a fitness trail that can be used free of charge at any time.

Hiking trails

The Rupertiweg (part of the European long-distance hiking trail E10 ) and the Marien-Wanderweg (St. Marienkirchen am Hausruck - Maria Schmolln - Altötting) run along the Kobernaußerwald ridge coming from Schratteneck over the Steiglberg to Frauschereck.

Since the establishment of a new network of hiking trails in 2018, the municipality of Lohnsburg has been participating in the Innviertel movement arena with nine routes .

Events

• Church Day: The Lohnsburg Church Day, which takes place annually at the beginning of June, is an important link between the Lohnsburg associations, the economy and the population in and around Lohnsburg.
• Easter concert by the Lohnsburg Music Association: The Lohnsburg Music Association, founded in 1852, has been under the direction of Gottfried Reisegger since 1992. Since then, Reisegger has also conducted the Easter concert known in the Innviertel region, at which the traditional Lohnsburg brass band performs classical music, musicals and film music.

Schools and kindergartens

The majority of Lohnsburg's children, with the exception of children from Gunzing and Magetsham , for whom the Riegerting kindergarten ( Mehrnbach municipality ) is closer, attend the Lohnsburg kindergarten .

Up to the school year 2010/2011, in addition to the Lohnsburg elementary school in the main town, there was another school in the village of Kobernaußen on the Kobernaußerwald ridge, which, however, had to be closed due to insufficient student numbers. The Kobernaußen elementary school was attended not only by children from the Lohnsburg localities Schlag , Stelzen , Mitterberg and Kobernaußen but also by pupils from the Waldzell localities of Reiching , Roderer and Schwendt . After the abandonment, the children of the Lohnsburg municipal area were assigned to the primary school in the main town. The three Waldzell localities were assigned to the school district of the Nussbaum elementary school, which, however, was also closed in the following years due to too few pupils.

The villages of Gunzing and Magetsham were also not part of the Lohnsburg primary school until the 2015/2016 school year. Primary school children from these two localities attended the Riegerting primary school in the neighboring community of Mehrnbach together with those from several localities in the municipalities of Mehrnbach , Mettmach and Kirchheim up to the school year mentioned . After the school closed, the school district was divided between the four communities.

Health and social

Basic medical care in Lohnsburg is guaranteed by a general practice and a dental practice. A residential building with supervised residential units was created for older community residents.

The voluntary fire brigades in Lohnsburg, Kemating, Kobernaußen and Riegerting provide quick help in the event of fires, accidents and storms.

The closest police station is in the neighboring community of Waldzell.

Supply and Disposal

Wind turbine on the Steiglberg

While there are water cooperatives in the main town and in the larger towns, houses and farms in scattered areas and in the smaller towns usually have their own house wells. Most of the wastewater is treated together with wastewater from the Waldzell community and the Schildorn village of Litzlham in the Kobernaußerwald sewage treatment plant in Helmerding .

The Kobernaußerwald waste material collection center with an attached animal carcass collection point is also operated on an inter-municipal basis, making it the first in the Ried im Innkreis district . An excavated earth dump in Kobernaußen and a composting facility complete the range of disposal facilities.

Another supply facility is the Steiglberg wind turbine in the Kobernaußerwald.

Economy and Infrastructure

• Tilo Holzwaren: The company founded by Gustav Schrattenecker in the early 1950s is the largest company in the community with around 400 jobs.
• Elektro Gadermeier: The company was founded by Johann Gadermayr in 1919 in the form of a compression trade with bicycles and machines in Felling No. 4 on his parents' farm and is one of the largest companies in the community with around 80 jobs.

Public transport

The municipality of Lohnsburg is connected to the regional capital Ried im Innkreis from Monday to Friday by the Postbus line 850 ( Ried - Lohnsburg - Waldzell - Schratteneck - Stelzen - Arnberg ) of the OÖVV . Furthermore, on Sundays and public holidays, a minibus runs from Ried via Lohnsburg to Straßwalchen late in the afternoon . This is a "leftover" of the otherwise discontinued daily bus connection to and from Salzburg or Straßwalchen.

Street

The Kobernaußer-Landesstraße (L508) connects the districts of Ried and Schärding with Salzburg and thus represents the most important road in the municipality of Lohnsburg.

The Römer-Radweg (R6) runs through the market town of Lohnsburg , from which a connection path branches off at Magetsham in the direction of Ried im Innkreis to the Antiesenradweg (R23) .

literature

On the occasion of the market survey in 1988, the Lohnsburg secondary school teacher Gerd Rabe started a school project with the aim of bringing out a brochure about his home community. After more than two years of research, he published his results in the form of an illustrated book, which is available from the municipality of Lohnsburg.

Official description of the municipal coat of arms : In blue a golden, upright stag with twelve-ended antlers. The municipality colors are yellow-blue.

The municipal coat of arms, awarded in 1969, goes back to the coat of arms of the Lords of Kuchl , who owned the Friedburg rule from 1377 to 1439 and thus also part of the current municipality of Lohnsburg. The deer also stands for the location on the Kobernaußerwald.
