Peter Mayer (born November 10, 1976 in Ried im Innkreis ) is an Austrian farmer and politician ( ÖVP ). Mayer was a member of the Austrian National Council from 2008 to 2013 .

education and profession

Peter Mayer attended the Riegerting elementary school between 1983 and 1987 and the Waldzell secondary school until 1991 . He then switched to the agricultural college in Burgkirchen , which he finished in 1995 with an agricultural skilled worker qualification. He completed his master craftsman training in 1998 at the agricultural college in Otterbach . From August 1995 to April 1996 Mayer did his military service with the Austrian Armed Forces in the General Zehner barracks in Ried im Innkreis. In 1997 Mayer took over his parents' business as a tenant, in 2000 he took over the business completely and has been running it with his wife since then.

politics

From 1995 to 1997 Mayer was the country youth chairman in Lohnsburg and in 1995 the founding chairman of the young breeders in the Upper Austrian Cattle Breeding Association. Since 2002 he has been a board member of the State Cattle Breeding Association and since 2002 a delegate of the Schärdinger Landmolkerei. He is also involved in the Austrian Farmers 'Union and was chairman of the Young Farmers ' Union in Lohnsburg until 2006. In 2005 he was elected chairman of the district farmers' union in Ried im Innkreis, and since 2006 he has also been chairman of the district chamber of farmers. Mayer is a parliamentary group member of the ÖVP Lohnsburg and was elected to the Presidium of the Upper Austrian Farmers' Union in July 2008.

Mayer ran for the National Council election in 2008 as the top candidate in the Innviertel regional constituency and was elected to the National Council through a direct mandate. He was sworn in as a MP on October 28, 2008. Mayer declined to run for the 2013 National Council election.

Private

Mayer was born as the son of the farmer couple Max and Frieda Mayer from Lohnsburg . He has been married to a nurse since 2000 and has two sons (* 1998 and 2004 respectively) and a daughter (* 2003). Mayer is an active member of the Riegerting volunteer fire brigade and the Lohnsburg music association.
