Albert Ritzberger (born May 20, 1853 in Pfaffstätt , † November 8, 1915 in Linz ) was an Austrian draftsman and painter .

Ritzberger comes from a family of teachers and was initially a teacher himself in Lohnsburg am Kobernaußerwald and Henhart until 1879 . He exhibited his first drawings in a Linz art dealer. Because of its chalk - portraits , he was a 1876-77 study at the Vienna Arts and Crafts School in Ferdinand Laufberger and after training at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna (1879-1884) at Heinrich von Angeli possible.

Encouraged by a number of awards, he founded his own atelier in Gumpendorf in 1884 and married Luise, the daughter of court architect Hans Smattosch , a year later . From 1887 to 1890 he ran his studio in Munich and in 1893 he moved it to Salzburg . In 1893 he made trips to Italy and Holland , after which Vienna and Salzburg were his places of residence. From 1890 until his death lived and worked partly in Linz and partly in Aschach an der Donau in studios in family-owned properties.

From 1887 he was a member of the Vienna Künstlerhaus . A street is named after him in Linz and Aschach.

Ritzberger is considered a genre and portrait painter . His works are large late impressionist figural compositions, which u. a. were represented at exhibitions in the Munich Glass Palace . From 1903 he exhibited his works at the Linz Art Association , where he was honored in its anniversary exhibitions in 1921 and 1931.
