history

The Burgstall Stampfegg, built around 1010, is located in the local area . Gutau was first mentioned in a document in 1122 in the church's consecration note. The place developed from a small settlement, as can be seen from the collection of houses. So the place was settled before it was first mentioned, probably around 100 years before. In the 15th century the pastor Stephan Lamp from Gutau held the office of inquisitor until 1424 . Around 1733 a large market fire is reported that also affected the church.

Gutau has been part of the Principality of Austria ob der Enns since 1490 . During the Napoleonic Wars , the place was occupied several times. Since 1918 the place belongs to the federal state of Upper Austria. After the annexation of Austria to the German Reich on March 13, 1938, the place belonged to the Gau Oberdonau . After 1945 Gutau was in the Soviet occupation zone . The infrastructure has been expanded and rebuilt since 1955.
