Tannbach is a village in the Gutau municipality in the Freistadt district , Upper Austria .

The village is located southeast of Freistadt in the catchment area of ​​the Waldaist , which also represents the southern border of the municipality. On January 1, 2020, the village had 140 inhabitants.

The earliest written evidence is from 1270 and is "Tanpach". It is based on Middle High German tan (forest). In the Franziszeischen cadastre from 1827 the place is recorded as Dambach .
