Michael Lindner (born February 26, 1983 in Linz ) is an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ). From 2015 to October 2018, Lindner was a seconded member of the Austrian Federal Council from the state of Upper Austria , and has been a member of the Upper Austrian state parliament since October 2018 .

education and profession

Michael Lindner was born on February 26, 1983 in the Upper Austrian capital Linz and grew up in the market town of Gutau in the Mühlviertel . He first attended elementary school in Gutau and then from 1993 to 2001 the grammar school in Freistadt , where he also graduated . After graduating from civilian service Lindner began in 2003 Sociology -Studies at the Johannes Kepler University of Linz , which he with the 2011 Graduation Philosophiae Magister (Mag.phil.) Graduated. As part of his academic education, he also attended a university course for project management at the University of Salzburg in 2010 and the certificate course in European Studies at the German University for Continuing Education in 2014.

In 2007 Michael Lindner was regional manager of the SPÖ Freistadt for seven months at short notice. From September 1, 2007, he was the political secretary of the state manager of the SPÖ Upper Austria. From March 1, 2011, he then worked as the regional manager of the Social Democratic Association of Local Representatives of Upper Austria. On November 1, 2015, he was appointed executive chairman of the Social Democratic Association of Community Representatives.

In 2019 he was elected chairman of ASKÖ Mühlviertel as successor to Hans Affenzeller .

Political career

In 2001 Michael Lindner was a founding member of the Socialist Youth Gutau. In 2005 he was elected regional chairman of the SJ Upper Austria, which he remained until 2011. In his activity as SJ chairman he was also chairman of the youth recreation club Europacamp, which is responsible for the administration of the European camp in Weißenbach am Attersee belonging to the SJ . On January 9, 2015, Michael Lindner was elected district party chairman of the SPÖ in the Freistadt district, where he had previously been deputy district party chairman since 2006. From 2005 to 2011 and again since 2015, he has also been a member of the state party executive of the SPÖ Upper Austria.

In the 2015 municipal council elections, Michael Lindner was elected to the council of the market town of Kefermarkt . After the state elections , which took place at the same time , he was sent by the Upper Austrian state parliament as a member of the Federal Council.

In October 2018 he was sworn in as the successor to Thomas Punkenhofer as a member of the Upper Austrian state parliament . Dominik Reisinger succeeded him in the Federal Council .

Private life

Michael Lindner is married and has two sons. He lives with his family in Kefermarkt in the Mühlviertel.
