Thomas Punkenhofer

Thomas Punkenhofer (* 1975 ) is an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ). He has been Mayor of Mauthausen since 2007 and was a member of the Upper Austrian State Parliament from October 2015 to October 2018 .

Life

Thomas Punkenhofer has been Mayor of Mauthausen since 2007 . In the runoff election on October 11, 2015, he prevailed against his rival Barbara Marksteiner ( ÖVP ) with 1,580 votes. The turnout was 70.45 percent.

On October 23, 2015, he was sworn in as a member of the Upper Austrian state parliament . There he acted as the human rights spokesman for the SPÖ. In October 2018, he resigned from his state parliament mandate, and Michael Lindner replaced him .
