history

History of the parish

At the urging of Christoph von Zelking, a parish was officially founded on September 14, 1480 under the patronage of the Zelkinger . When the parish changed to the Protestant faith, the parish was handed over to the Linz Jesuit College in 1626. In 1666 parish rights were returned to the Weinberg rule .

History of the parish church

The church was built as a pilgrimage church under Christoph von Zelking. The nave was built between 1473 and 1476 and consecrated on October 30, 1476 by Passau Auxiliary Bishop Albert Schönhofer . The choir was created from 1490/1491 and was completed before 1500. The valuable high altar was not erected until after the death of the founder Christoph von Zelking, probably in 1497. The sacristy was built at the end of the 15th century, and the oratory above was extended at the end of the 18th century. In 1752 the vaults and the roof structure were statically renovated, the buttresses of the nave were connected with wall arches. From 1788 to 1798 the tracery of the choir windows was removed during a renovation. Exterior restorations were in 1959, 1970s, interior restorations were in 1929, 1935, 1959, 1982.

architecture

The remarkable late Gothic hall church has a high quality in the design of the architecture and the details. The nave as a high three-aisled, five-bay staggered hall has ribbed vaults over octagonal pillars and consoles. The central nave is wider than the side aisles. In the side aisles, the heavily busted vaults counteract the sanding of the net rib formation. The two-bay choir with a five-eighth closure has a geometrical net rib vault over polygonal fluted wall services. The tower is in the middle of the western front. In the southern corner of the choir is the sacristy with oratorio. In the northern corner of the choir there is a stepped pulpit staircase with a spiral staircase.
