The Oberamt Marbach was an administrative district in Württemberg (on attached map # 31) , which was renamed District Marbach in 1934 and dissolved in 1938, with its communities falling to the districts of Ludwigsburg as legal successors, Backnang and Heilbronn . For general comments on the Württemberg upper offices, see Oberamt (Württemberg) .
history
The city of Marbach had been the seat of an office since the 14th century, which included the city as well as the places in the vicinity. By the end of the 15th century, further acquisitions rounded off the Württemberg holdings at Neckar and lower Murr. With the rise of Ludwigsburg , Marbach lost its importance in the 18th century; the administrative locations Neckarweihingen, Poppenweiler and Benningen were added to the Oberamt Ludwigsburg . In the north-east bordering Bottwartal , the cities of (Groß-) Bottwar and Beilstein functioned as administrative centers. The reorganization begun in 1806 merged the three offices, since 1758 Oberamts, into the enlarged Oberamt Marbach. It initially belonged to the Landvogtei an der Enz , then from 1818 to 1924 to the Neckar district .
