Erwin Kreetz memorial plaque

On April 17, 1945, soldier Erwin Kreetz was executed as a deserter in the quarry on the road between Steinheim and Kleinbottwar . After he was told that his wife had been killed in a bombing raid in Berlin, he left his unit, was arrested a short time later and shot in the quarry three days before the American liberation. A memorial stone has been commemorating this since 1989.

On December 1, 1971, Kleinbottwar was incorporated into Steinheim.

coat of arms

The former municipal coat of arms of Kleinbottwars shows in black the golden mark in the form of a wagon wheel with a horizontal spoke (a golden rim with a golden spoke).

Attractions

  • The castle Schaubeck was first mentioned in 1272 and has long been the seat of the respective local lords. After numerous changes of ownership, the plant came to the Graf Adelmann family in 1914, who now run the Graf Adelmann winery there .
  • The St. George Church was built from 1491 on the initiative of the Lords of Plieningen and consecrated in 1500. The most important art treasure of the church is a late Gothic carved altar by Hans Leinberger around 1510/20. The church's other art treasures include a sacrament house and a baptismal font from the time the church was built, as well as historical Plieninger tombs from the 16th century. Under the choir there is also an old crypt in which the respective local lords were buried until around 1740.
