history
overview
Erdmannhausen was first mentioned in a document in 816 , when Ludwig the Pious gave the place to the Murrhardt monastery. The Counts of Württemberg acquired parts of the place from the 14th century until they owned the whole place in 1425. Since then Erdmannhausen has been administered by the Marbach office. Duke Ulrich von Württemberg pushed through the Reformation in his Duchy of Württemberg in 1534 , so that Erdmannhausen became Protestant. During the Thirty Years War , troops marched into Erdmannhausen in 1626, killing 253 residents. In 1644 the parsonage burned down and in 1655 only 13 of 95 buildings remained, which 89 people lived in instead of the previous 630. In the Palatinate War of Succession , 4 barns and 8 houses burned down in the village and the entire population suffered from robberies.
When the young Kingdom of Württemberg was reorganized at the beginning of the 19th century, Erdmansshausen's affiliation to the Marbach Regional Office was retained.
During the district reform during the Nazi era in Württemberg , the community came to the newly founded district of Ludwigsburg in 1938 . Erdmannhausen was bombed several times during the Second World War . The first low-flying attack, in which two people were killed and several buildings in the area of the Biegel, took place on April 7, 1945. In mid-April, pioneers of the Waffen-SS blew up the welding bridge and American soldiers destroyed the station with artillery fire. A resident was killed. On April 21, the US Army occupied the place after the Wehrmacht had withdrawn. Thus, the place became part of the American zone of occupation and belonged to the newly founded state of Württemberg-Baden , which was incorporated into the current state of Baden-Württemberg in 1952.
1963 began with the land consolidation of the place. At the beginning of 1974 about 90% of the inhabitants voted against the merger with Marbach, which allowed the place to retain its independence. 2007 began with the second town center renovation. Erdmannhausen celebrated its 1200th anniversary in 2016.
