The shamrock nursing homes gGmbH is a local provider of nursing homes, assisted living and short-term and day care in the district of Ludwigsburg .

With the establishment of Kleeblatt Pflegeheime gGmbH in 1989, geriatric care was organized for the first time in Germany by a public institution. The care concept set up with it, which provides for small, decentralized nursing homes and open meeting centers across the district, was also unique at this point in time.

With a total of 25 nursing homes and more than 1000 employees, Kleeblatt is an important provider of care services in the Ludwigsburg district today.

The Kleeblatt nursing homes gGmbH are sponsored by the Ludwigsburg district as well as cities and municipalities. The organs are the management, the shareholders' meeting and the board of trustees.

history

The idea for the Kleeblatt nursing home arose at the end of the 1980s against the backdrop of the nationally discussed geriatric concept and demographic development. The aim was to distribute the care places required in the district among small houses with a maximum of 30 beds in order to create a care infrastructure in the communities.

In 1989 the district of Ludwigsburg and ten cities and municipalities initially merged to form the non-profit Kleeblatt Pflegeheime GmbH. A shamrock nursing home with assisted senior citizens' apartments was built in each of the locations, creating a total of 245 nursing places and 140 assisted living apartments.

The company headquarters, which forms the roof of the nursing homes, was set up in Ludwigsburg.

Due to its great socio-political importance, the clover leaf project became part of a pilot project by the state of Baden-Württemberg and an accompanying social science study by the Wüstenrot Foundation.

When the success of the Kleeblatt idea was evident, the concept was expanded: In 1993 the company was expanded to include seven more cities and municipalities - there are now 25 Kleeblatt houses and two day care facilities.

Socio-political significance

In terms of social policy, this was the first time that the minimum company size of 80 and more residents for a nursing home, which had previously been defended almost dogmatically, was deviated from. The main arguments for this were that administration and laundry are provided centrally, but at the same time the apartments in the last phase of life are as close as possible to their previous place of residence. This concept was implemented in one of the most densely populated areas of Württemberg without the other sponsors of similar partial offers having made massive economic or other objections. The acceptance in the communities was overwhelming.
