Burgstall was first mentioned in a document in 1301. The name is probably due to a fortified structure in Roman times or to a medieval castle. The place was originally divided between Württemberg and Backnang Abbey, before Württemberg swapped the whole place into its possession in 1453 and incorporated it into the Marbach office.

Erbstetten

Erbstetten was first mentioned in the Lorsch Codex as Stetin in 794 on the occasion of a donation to the Lorsch Monastery . In the 13th century, the Esslinger Spital and the Backnang Abbey owned goods and rights that were acquired by Württemberg in 1453. Erbstetten belonged to the Marbach District Office until 1938, then to the Backnang district.

A church in Erbstetten was first mentioned in 1287. It came to the Lichtenstern Monastery via the Counts of Löwenstein . In 1474 the late Gothic choir tower church was changed. The choir has a ribbed vault, the north chapel from 1568 is vaulted with ribs. In 1584 the now Protestant church is called Laurentiuskirche . The nave was extended to the north and west in 1607 and 1621, a west and north gallery with the parterre stalls facing the pulpit on the south wall was extended to form a transverse church , and the church was renovated in 1864, 1936 by architect Werner Klatte and 1956 ff. The baptismal font and the altar cross are late Gothic. A bell for the church was cast in 1503 by Pantlion Sydler from Esslingen. The parish also has a parish hall. Until 1939 the parish of Erbstetten belonged to the parish of Marbach. With effect from April 1, 1939, it was reclassified to the church district of Backnang .
