The Friedrich Müller Omnibusunternehmen GmbH (FMO) is a bus company based in Schwäbisch Hall . It operates numerous bus routes in Baden-Württemberg . The company is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Regional Bus Stuttgart GmbH (RBS), which in turn belongs to Deutsche Bahn (DB).
history
Friedrich Müller founded a small rental car company in Schwäbisch Hall in 1928. In 1931 a bus service was set up from Schwäbisch Hall to Waldenburg and Langenburg . After the Second World War, regular and occasional traffic was expanded further. As the depot at that time on Louis-Braun-Strasse was soon no longer sufficient, Omnibus Müller inaugurated its current headquarters in 1976 in Schmollerstrasse in the Hessental district .
On April 18, 2001, the company was bought by Regional Bus Stuttgart (RBS). At the end of 2002, RBS transferred its line concessions in the Schwäbisch Hall district and in the northern Ostalb district to its subsidiary.
In 2016, the administration of the five bus companies of Deutsche Bahn ( BRN , FMO, RBS, RVS , SBG ) , which mainly operate in Baden-Württemberg, was centralized in Karlsruhe . The reason for the reorganization was given as the changed market situation, the participation in procurement procedures and the development of traffic concepts should take place under one roof in the future.
Following the EU-wide tenders for bus services in Baden-Württemberg, FMO has been awarded several line bundles since 2017. Since the company is subject to the collective agreement of the private bus companies, it was able to offer its services more cheaply than the parent company RBS. On December 10, 2017, FMO took over bus traffic in the line bundles 4, 8, 9 and 10 (lot 1) in the Böblingen district and in the Rastatt Süd II line bundle in the Rastatt district . Line bundles 2 ( Stromberg ) and 8 (Neckartal) in the Ludwigsburg district followed on January 1, 2018 . Line bundle 1 ( Filderstadt / Leinfelden-Echterdingen ) in the Esslingen district and since December 9, 2018 the Lußhardt line bundle in the Karlsruhe district has been operated by FMO since December 1, 2018 . Line bundles 9, 10 and 11 ( Backnang and the surrounding area) in the Rems-Murr district followed on January 1, 2019 .
Line bundle 4 ( Ditzingen ) in the Ludwigsburg district was awarded to RBS on January 1, 2019. Before the start of operations, the license was transferred from RBS to FMO. The Klingel company operates as a subcontractor on the lines. In the Marbach / Bottwartal area, the previous constellation was largely retained - route bundle 6 in the Ludwigsburg district was also awarded to RBS on August 1, 2019 and FMO will continue to provide the transport services as a contract company together with other private bus operators.
FMO also applied for the Böblingen / Sindelfingen city traffic , but was barely able to prevail against the previous operator Pflieger due to the old entrepreneur's privilege .
business
In 2016, Omnibus Müller operated 36 bus routes of its own and operated 19 other bus routes, particularly on behalf of RBS. At that time, the catchment area of the more than 1,300-kilometer-long route network comprised around 400,000 inhabitants; around 5.4 million timetable kilometers were covered annually. At that time, FMO had 40 buses of its own, contract companies operated 98 other vehicles.
The parent company RBS also provides mileage for the company, conversely, Müller has been on the RBS lines for some time in the Ludwigsburg district - previously located outside of his own traffic area. In addition to the depot in Schwäbisch Hall, there are original FMO locations in Bühlertann , Crailsheim , Ellwangen and Marbach , where buses are stationed.
As of August 2019, the mileage of all line bundles was around 18 million kilometers per year. The company's own fleet has grown to more than 150 buses. In Böblingen and Ludwigsburg , FMO uses the RBS depots , in Tübingen the RAB depot and in Backnang renting takes place at the OVR . Other locations have been added in Beilstein , Besigheim , Bruchsal , Bühl , Leinfelden-Echterdingen , Oberstenfeld , Sachsenheim , Vaihingen an der Enz and Waghäusel . The former RBS headquarters in Stuttgart is now a subsidiary of FMO, which also serves as a contact point for customers. The former RBS ServiceCenter Backnang will also be continued by FMO.
Vehicle fleet
Most of the new MAN Lion's City (A20 / A21 / A23) vehicles in the traffic red DB livery are used in the line bundles acquired since 2017 . Iveco Crossway LEs also operate in the Lußhardt line bundle . MAN Lion's City and Mercedes-Benz Citaro in various versions are mainly used in school traffic and as reserve vehicles. Most of the older buses were taken over by RBS, RVS or SBG, some vehicles are borrowed from RBS. Special features in the fleet are a minibus based on the Fiat Ducato , which is used as a city bus in Leinfelden-Echterdingen, and two MAN midibuses of the type Lion's City M (A47) in the Backnang area.
The vehicle fleet in the Schwäbisch Hall, Crailsheim and Ellwangen area consists of MAN Lion's City and Mercedes-Benz Citaro in different versions, most of which are still painted in the old light gray and ruby red color scheme and bear the Omnibus Müller logo.
Lines
Most of the FMO bus routes run within the transport and tariff associations KVSH , KVV , OstalbMobil and VVS . As long as the start and destination stops are within a tariff group, its tariff applies. A separate FMO in-house tariff applies to cross-network journeys (e.g. from Schwäbisch Hall to Ellwangen). This is a kilometer-based tariff (kilometer price table) in which the fare between the start and destination is not based on the number of tariff zones traveled, but on the distance actually traveled. The BahnCard is recognized in the FMO tariff , while there are different regulations within the associations.
On the KVSH line 20, the HNV tariff applies to journeys to / from Wüstenrot .
The VVS lines 826, 826a and 828 run on the section between Dettenhausen and Tübingen in the area of the naldo . For journeys across associations, tickets can be purchased in accordance with the FMO house tariff or alternatively naldo single tickets or day tickets that are subject to a surcharge. Other naldo tickets are not recognized, but the Baden-Württemberg-Ticket or the MetropolTagesTicket can be used without a surcharge.
Lines operated on behalf of RBS (on individual lines, the mileage is entirely provided by subcontractors):
