Christoph Friedrich Schott (born April 13, 1720 in Erbstetten ; † June 18, 1775 in Tübingen ) was a German librarian and professor of eloquence and poetry as well as Protestant theology and philosophy at the University of Tübingen .

Life

Christoph Friedrich Schott was a respondent to Johann Christian Klemm in Tübingen in 1742 . In 1743 he was court master of Count Henkel von Oderberg , 1750 deacon in Göppingen , 1752 in Tübingen. From 1753 to 1772 he was a full professor of eloquence and poetry in Tübingen, 1754 librarian, 1756 pedagogue ob der Steig , 1761 extraordinary professor of theology.

In 1762 he was promoted to Dr. theol. doctorate and was until 1775 a full professor of practical philosophy.

Two of his portraits, painted around 1759, hang in the Tübingen professors' gallery . His son August Ludwig Schott , born in Göppingen, was a German legal scholar and university professor. His son Andreas Heinrich Schott became a philosophy professor at the University of Tübingen and a Pedagogical Institute ob der Staig.
