Andreas Heinrich Schott (born February 17, 1758 in Tübingen , † February 20, 1831 in Stuttgart ) was a German philosopher , librarian and university professor .

Life

Schott was the son of the Tübingen theology professor Christoph Friedrich Schott . He graduated from high school in Stuttgart and was enrolled at the University of Tübingen on October 29, 1776 . He obtained his master's degree in philosophy on September 25, 1778 and in 1784 became a sub-librarian at the Tübingen University Library .

In 1793, Schott gained a position as associate professor of philosophy at the University of Tübingen. In addition, he continued to work as a university librarian. In 1795 or 1797 he was promoted to Dr. phil. PhD . In 1798 he was appointed full professor of logic and metaphysics and later also of eloquence at the Philosophical Faculty of the University of Tübingen, where he gave up the position of librarian. During his tenure he was the rectorate of the university four times . In 1803/1804, 1809/1810, 1812/1813 and 1814/1815 he was rector of the university.

Like his father, Schott was also a pedagogue for the Latin schools in the Ob der Staig area from 1811 . He died unmarried in Stuttgart.

The Tübingen law professor August Ludwig Schott was his brother.
