Pädagogiarch or Pädagogarch was the previous professional title for the rector of a pedagogy .

Origin of the term

The term Pädagarch is derived from the ancient Greek noun παιδαγωγός ( paidagogós ) and the verb ἄρχειν ( árchein ) 'command, lead, begin'. The former is made up of the noun παῖς ( pais ) 'boy, child' and the verb ἄγειν ( ágein ) 'lead'.
