Pedagogy ( Gr. Παῖς paisboy ”, “child” and ἄγειν agein “lead”) is the historical expression for a school educational institution with above-average performance requirements.

The Stettin pedagogy existed from 1543 to 1667 and from 1610 to 1817 the pedagogical museum and grammar school illustrious in Bremen . In 1695 August Hermann Francke founded a pedagogy as an educational institution in Halle (Saale) , which he initially provided for young nobles.

The term pedagogy became a term for other educational institutions that were initially elitist.
