On July 1, 1950, the municipality of Leetze (with its district Wötz) and the municipality of Hohenlangenbeck from the Salzwedel district were merged to form the new municipality of Heidberg . On March 1, 1973, the municipality of Heidberg from the Salzwedel district was incorporated into the municipality of Siedenlangenbeck.
