Vitzke is a district of the municipality of Kuhfelde in the Altmarkkreis Salzwedel in Saxony-Anhalt .

geography

The Altmark Roundabout village Vitzke located one kilometer south of Kuhfelde and about nine kilometers southwest of the county town Salzwedel . In the east the Neugraben (Hainholzgraben) flows to the Jeetze . The Vitzke colony is located west of the village on federal highway 248 .

history

In 1288 the village of Vitzke was called uilla Viczeke , from which Dambeck Monastery received income. In the Landbuch der Mark Brandenburg from 1375 the place is listed as fish . Dambeck Monastery and von Bartensleben owned it there. In 1579 a chapel was mentioned that still existed in 1721.

In a ditch north of Vitzke there used to be a watermill, the Lüttge Mühle . In 1711 a Erbmüller is called, in 1745 a watermill with one grinder, in 1840 this small mill is called , in 1868 Luettgemühle , in 1871 Lüttgemühle .

The village Vietzke is still written in 1842 , in the parish dictionary from 1873 the village is then called Vitzke as it is today .

The Vitzke colony was first mentioned in a community dictionary in 1885 with 40 inhabitants.

The nearby Oebisfelde – Salzwedel railway line was shut down in 2002.

Settlement near Vitzke

In 2000, an early medieval settlement was excavated near Vitzke. Pit-like meals in which iron from lawn iron ore had been processed were uncovered from the workshop equipment of a blacksmith . A spindle whorl was found in the remains of a house , which was used for spinning with a hand spindle. As early as 1893 and 1894 urns had been found at the site and excavations were carried out to uncover a stone box grave.

Incorporations

On July 1, 1950, the municipality of Vitzke from the district of Salzwedel was incorporated into the municipality of Siedenlangenbeck . On July 1, 2009, the municipality of Siedenlangenbeck merged with other municipalities to form the new municipality of Kuhfelde, so that the district of Vitzke became part of the municipality of Kuhfelde.
