geography

The Altmark village of Kuhfelde, an expanded eastward Roundabout village with a church, located eight kilometers south of the county town Salzwedel on the conservation area Salzwedel-Diesdorf. East of the village is the federal highway 248 , which runs from Northeim via Seesen, Braunschweig, Wolfsburg, Salzwedel and Lüchow to Dannenberg.

Community structure

The districts and living spaces belong to the new municipality of Kuhfelde, which was formed on July 1st, 2009:

history

The region was already settled in the Neolithic Age. This is evidenced by the large stone graves near Leetze . Kuhfelde was originally laid out as a round square village.

The first written mention of the place comes from the year 1257, when the churches of Langenbecke and Kuhfelde of the diocese of Verden are mentioned.

In the Landbuch der Mark Brandenburg from 1375 the place is listed as Kufelde . The von Plato (Plothe) lent the income from the Bede and the mill to Frau Drusdow (Drüsten).

During the land reform , an area of 1025 hectares was expropriated, 924 hectares of which belonged to the forest Ferchau and forest Risk-Umfelde. In 1954, the first type III agricultural production cooperative, the LPG "Tractor", was established.

In 2007, the Kuhfelde community celebrated the 750th anniversary of the first documented mention of Kuhfelde for ten days.

Incorporations

On September 30, 1928, the Ferchau estate was merged with the rural community of Kuhfelde.

On July 1, 1950, the previously independent municipality of Vitzke was incorporated from the Salzwedel district.

The municipal councils of the municipalities of Kuhfelde (on: December 2nd, 2008), Siedenlangenbeck (on: December 8th, 2008), Valfitz (on: December 10th, 2008) and Püggen (on: December 2nd, 2008) decided that their communities are dissolved and united to a new community with the name Kuhfelde. This contract was approved by the county as the lower local supervisory authority and came into effect on July 1, 2009. On January 1, 2010, the community moved from the administrative community of Salzwedel-Land to the newly formed community of Beetzendorf-Diesdorf .
