Joachim-Friedrich Huth

Joachim-Friedrich Huth (born July 31, 1896 in Neuhof ; † March 27, 1962 in Koblenz ) was a German officer , most recently lieutenant general in the Bundeswehr .

Life

Huth joined the Prussian Army shortly before the outbreak of World War I on July 13, 1914 . Since January 4, 1915 he was a lieutenant a . a. in action as platoon and company commander in 3rd Posen Infantry Regiment No. 58 . In June 1917 he switched to the air force , where he achieved a confirmed kill by the end of the war. During the war, Huth was awarded the Iron Cross, 2nd and 1st class.

Since Germany was forbidden by the Treaty of Versailles to have an air force or air force after the war , Huth resigned as first lieutenant .

Huth then rejoined the Air Force as a captain on March 1, 1934, and took up important positions. He was u. a. Commodore of the destroyer squadron 26 "Horst Wessel" , in this function he received the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross on September 11, 1940 . From 1942 to the end of 1944 Huth led various hunting divisions, and on November 30, 1944, the Lieutenant General took command of the 1st Hunting Corps. On January 26, 1945 he was appointed commanding general of the II. Air Corps. He held this position until the end of the war and then became a prisoner of war, from which he was released in mid-1946.

In 1956, Huth joined the newly founded Bundeswehr as a major general and took over newly established posts. Until 1957 he was in command of the Air Force Schools (KdSLw) in Fürstenfeldbruck and from December 1957 until his retirement in 1961 as the commanding general of the Air Force Group South in Karlsruhe , which was directly under the command of the Air Force .
