Platoon leader
Zugführer (ZF or ZFü, also abbreviated to ZgFhr or Zfhr in the military) is a management function of authorities and organizations with security tasks for the management and command of trains. Platoon leader is a function or service position .

Germany
The platoon leader (ZgFhr) is an official position in the Bundeswehr . The train driver is in German fire brigades the leader of a train . A complete train according to FwDV 3 has at least two groups and a train troop including equipment. The training and duties of the train driver are regulated in the fire service regulations. In some federal states, emergency services with the qualification as train driver can be recognized by two red bars on each side of the helmet . This helmet identification only signals the ability to exercise the function of "platoon leader". Several emergency services with this identification can therefore be present in one train. However, only one person per train can assume the actual position of the train driver. Any other existing emergency services with platoon leader qualifications then take on group leaders or, less frequently, normal team tasks. The actual unit leader is increasingly being identified with an identification vest (often red, as a section or operational leader also white or yellow). Qualification and function markings are regulated at the state, district or municipality level, there is no uniform federal regulation. In Bavaria, for example, a train driver is marked with a 20 mm wide rubber band on the reflective tape on the helmet when he actually does this job.
Other aid organizations
A train driver from other aid organizations leads a train in an emergency . In his actions and instructions, he is only subordinate to an association leader (depending on the situation: the operations manager or the operations section leader). Train drivers need various management-specific additional training in addition to their specialist service knowledge before their appointment as train driver . These courses are partly organization and specialist service-specific. Among other things, knowledge about the division of auxiliary workers and the operational area, material procurement and management, dangers at the operational site and the avoidance of accidents, communication with auxiliary workers and emergency services from other specialist services and organizations as well as the legal principles of disaster control are imparted.
At least two groups are subordinate to the platoon leader , which in turn are led by group leaders . This also includes the platoon troop, which assists the platoon leader in management tasks.
At the water rescue service of the German Red Cross , a platoon leader is also known as a "water rescue service leader".
