The Verbandsgemeinde Beetzendorf-Diesdorf was formed on January 1, 2010 as part of the municipal reform in the Altmarkkreis Salzwedel in Saxony-Anhalt . It emerged from the Beetzendorf-Diesdorf administrative community .
history
14029 people (as of January 1, 2010) live in the eight municipalities on 519 km². Because member communities of a union community must have at least 1000 inhabitants and a union community may have a maximum of eight member communities, the following changes were made in advance:
- On January 1st, 2009:
- Merger of the municipalities of Bonese , Dehre and Lagendorf to form the new municipality of Dehre
- Merger of the communities of Ahlum , Bierstedt and Rohrberg to form the new community of Rohrberg
- Incorporation of the municipalities of Bandau , Jeeben , Hohentramm , Mellin and Tangeln into the municipality of Beetzendorf
- On July 1, 2009:
- Merger of the communities of Ellenberg , Gieseritz and Wallstawe (from the VG Salzwedel-Land ) to form the new community of Wallstawe
- Merger of the municipalities of Altensalzwedel (from the VG Salzwedel-Land) and Winterfeld as well as the Apenburg area to form the new Apenburg-Winterfeld area
- On January 1, 2010:
The municipality Mehmke, which was part of the administrative community but not the Verbandsgemeinde, was administered by the Verbandsgemeinde. On September 1, 2010, Mehmke was incorporated into the district of Diesdorf by law.

In accordance with Section 15 (1) of the Municipal Constitutional Law of the State of Saxony-Anhalt (KVG LSA), the association was granted permission to use a coat of arms on May 16, 2019.
Blazon : “In red with a right, green wave flank lined with a silver wave bar, a naturally assembled silver field stone church with a clapboard-roofed nave and three black arched windows, behind the pointed and pompous church tower with a cross, two arched and two black windows (2: 1: 1 ) and black arched portal; the flank covered with a golden ear of wheat with awns and two stalk leaves; a large red stone grave in the raised silver base of the shield. The main colors of the coat of arms are - derived from the main coat of arms motif and the shield color - silver (white) / red. "

Religions
The 2011 census in the European Union showed that around 37% of the 14,064 inhabitants of the community of Beetzendorf-Diesdorf belonged to the Protestant and around 3% to the Catholic Church.
