Altensalzwedel is a district of the Apenburg-Winterfeld area in the Altmarkkreis Salzwedel in Saxony-Anhalt , Germany.
geography
The Altmark village Altensalzwedel, a strongly deformed Angersdorf with church, located about nine kilometers south of Salzwedel at the Purnitz , a tributary of the Jeetze . The federal highways 248 and 71 lead west and east past the place.
history
In the Landbuch der Mark Brandenburg from 1375 Altensalzwedel is listed as Antiqua Soltowedel , which belonged to Dambeck Abbey .
In the east of the village on the Purnitz was a water mill , which was mentioned as early as 1379. In 1954 the first type III agricultural production cooperative, the LPG "Happy Future", was established.
Incorporations
Until June 30, 2009 Altensalzwedel was an independent municipality, to which the districts of Hagen (incorporated on July 1, 1950) and Saalfeld (incorporated on January 1, 1974) belonged.
On September 23, 2008, the municipal councils of Flecken Apenburg , Altensalzwedel and Winterfeld decided by means of a territorial change agreement that their municipalities should be dissolved and merged into a new municipality called Apenburg-Winterfeld . The new municipality is entitled to continue the name Flecken. This contract was approved by the county as the lower local supervisory authority and came into effect on July 1, 2009.

The Protestant church and parish Altensalzwedel belong to the parish area Apenburg the church district Salzwedel in Propst Sprengel Stendal Magdeburg of the Evangelical Church in Central Germany .
In 1903 the parish of Alten-Salzwedel (the villages of Saalfeld and Schieben), Maxdorf , Hagen and Quadendambeck belonged to the parish Altensalzwedel .
Culture and sights
- Memorial stone from 1985 in front of the elementary school at Dorfstrasse 56 for the communist Reichstag deputy Artur Becker , who died as a voluntary fighter for the Spanish Republic in 1938.
- The Protestant village church Altensalzwedel is a stately field stone building from the 13th century. It is one of the largest country churches in the north-western Altmark.
