Location of Klein Apenburg in Saxony-Anhalt

Klein Apenburg is a district of the community Flecken Apenburg-Winterfeld in the Altmarkkreis Salzwedel in Saxony-Anhalt .

geography

The Altmark village of Klein Apenburg lies between the rivers Landgraben and Purnitz . In the southeast is the 45 meter high Kiebitzberg.

history

The Rundlingsdorf Klein Apenburg was first mentioned in 1352 in the schulenburg chronicle. Another documentary mention of the village is the mention of Wendschen Abbenborgh in 1358. Klein Apenburg is also called "the old village ".

An important post and trade route used to run past Klein Apenburg, on which the salt was transported from Lüneburg via Salzwedel to Magdeburg. The old paved road to the Köhe (a deciduous forest north of the municipality) is a remnant of this historical route. The Köhkrug, also known as the Koykrug, used to be at the junction of this road to Hagen.

Incorporations

On September 30, 1928 the following were united with the rural community of Klein Apenburg: The "Köhe" from the estate district Propstey Salzwedel and the exclaves from estate district Beetzendorf I on the Recklingen field.

On July 1, 1950, the communities of Klein Apenburg and Groß Apenburg from the district of Salzwedel were combined to form the community of Apenburg . Klein Apenburg was probably part of the municipality, although no part is mentioned in the local dictionary from 1986.

In the district directory of the state of Saxony-Anhalt from 2006, Klein Apenburg is listed as Apenburg-Nord in the then municipality of Flecken Apenburg.

On July 1, 2009 Apenburg was incorporated into the new municipality of Apenburg-Winterfeld. Since that day, the district of Klein Apenburg has been part of the municipality.
