Bierstedt was an independent municipality in the Altmarkkreis Salzwedel in Saxony-Anhalt , Germany , until December 31, 2008 .
geography
The community was located around 17 kilometers southwest of the district town of Salzwedel and two kilometers west of federal highway 248 . The districts of Groß Bierstedt and Klein Bierstedt have belonged to the former community since its formation .
Closest places were Mehmke (west), Püggen and Beetzendorf (east), Rohrberg (southeast) and Kuhfelde (north).
The Bierstedt large stone grave is located near the village .
history
On October 1, 1937, the communities of Groß Bierstedt and Klein Bierstedt from the Salzwedel district merged to form a community with the name Bierstedt. By a non amendment agreement, the municipal councils of the municipalities decided Ahlum (6 May 2008) and Rohrberg (23 April 2008), Bierstedt (2008 May 14) that their communities and added to a new community named Rohrberg be united . This contract was approved by the county as the lower local supervisory authority and came into effect on January 1, 2009.
