Mehmke is a district of the village of Diesdorf in the Altmarkkreis Salzwedel in Saxony-Anhalt .
geography
The Altmark village Mehmke, one for Haufendorf advanced Roundabout village with a church, located six kilometers south-east of this village and 18 kilometers southwest of the county seat Salzwedel at Röthenbach, which flows into the Molmker Bach. The forest area Mehmker Holz is located in the northeast of the village.
history
The first documentary mention of Mehmke as Medebeke and comes from the year 1268, when it is recorded that Margrave Otto III. the village had donated one third each to the nunneries of Diesdorf , Dambeck and Wienhausen . In 1315 the village was named villa Medebeke in a document .
In the Landbuch der Mark Brandenburg from 1375 the village was listed as Medebeke , which belonged to Gunzel von Bartensleben . The Diesdorf monastery had income there.
The first type III agricultural production cooperative, the LPG "Einigkeit", was formed in 1953 in Mehmke.
On the left of the road to Stöckheim there was a windmill at the beginning of the 20th century , which was mentioned as early as 1818.
Incorporations
Hohengrieben was incorporated into Mehmke on July 1, 1950, Wüllmersen on July 1, 1973.
In the course of the area changes in the Altmarkkreis Salzwedel , the incorporation of the municipality of Mehmke into the spots of Diesdorf was envisaged in a draft law. Mehmke was a member of the Beetzendorf-Diesdorf administrative association until December 31, 2009 . The association community of Beetzendorf-Diesdorf , newly founded on January 1, 2010 , then administered the community of Mehmke, even though it was not a member of the association community.
On September 1, 2010, Mehmke was incorporated into Diesdorf. Since then, Mehmke, Hohengrieben and Wüllmersen have belonged directly to the municipality of Diesdorf as districts.

The church belonged to the parish Mehmke Mehmke and now belongs to the parish area Diesdorf the church district Salzwedel in Propst Sprengel Stendal Magdeburg of the Evangelical Church in Central Germany .
The oldest church books of the parish of Mehmke from 1588 to 1627 are handed down in the parish of Poritz .
