Dankensen is a district of the village of Diesdorf in the Altmarkkreis Salzwedel in Saxony-Anhalt .

Geography and transport links

The Altmark village of Dankensen, a round square village with a church on the square, is located southeast of the core area of ​​Diesdorf. The Molmker Bach flows on the northern edge of the village and the Bornsener Bach flows on the western edge of the village.

The nature reserve Salzwedel-Diesdorf lies to the north.

history

The place was first mentioned on June 12, 1264 as villa Dhankedessen . The village was first mentioned as Danksen on February 21, 1277, when Otto and Werner, noble von Hadmersleben , donated four hooves to the Diesdorf monastery in the village . The old place name Danksen was used in parallel in 1928.

Incorporations
