Heinrich Mahlke

Heinrich Mahlke (born May 9, 1851 in Dankensen ; † August 18, 1921 in Flensburg ) was a master tailor and member of the German Reichstag .

Life

Mahlke attended elementary school to thank in the Altmark. He learned the tailoring trade in Hamburg , traveled as a journeyman to Central Germany, Southern Germany, Austria and Switzerland and established himself in Flensburg in 1889. From May 28, 1874 to October 1, 1876, he served in the Schleswig-Holstein Dragoon Regiment No. 13 in Flensburg.

In 1872 he became a member of the ADAV . In Flensburg he was the leading head of the Social Democrats for a long time, even during the time of the Socialist Laws . In 1890 and 1893 he ran for the Reichstag elections in the constituency of Flensburg-Aabenraa, but was defeated both times by the national liberal shipowner and businessman Michael Jebsen from Aabenraa. In a by-election in 1902 in the Hadersleben constituency - Sonderburg , he was also unsuccessful. In 1903 he ran again in both electoral districts and this time won the constituency of the province of Schleswig-Holstein 2 Aabenraa , Flensburg against the anti-Semite Friedrich Raab . He never gave a speech in the Reichstag and did not stand for election again in 1907. From 1903/1904 he was the full-time chairman of the Vorwärts health insurance company .
