Location of Bergmoor in Saxony-Anhalt

Bergmoor is a district of the village of Diesdorf , in the Altmarkkreis Salzwedel in Saxony-Anhalt .

geography

The Altmark village of Bergmoor, a street village , is three kilometers northwest of Diesdorf. To the north of the village is the Reddigauer receiving water. To the east lies the approximately 108 meter high Schwabenberg.

history

Bergmoor was first mentioned in 1160 as Berchmere in a donation to the Diesdorf monastery .

There were two villages of this name that were still inhabited by Wends in 1161. Later they were differentiated by the designation "large" and "small". Both belonged to the Diesdorf monastery. One of the villages has perished, the other was desolate and was rebuilt as a colonist village in 1776.

In 1971 the Soviet armed forces erected a 71-meter-high reconnaissance tower on the Schwabenberg, popularly known as the “Café Moscow”. It was used to investigate VHF radio, NATO aircraft radio and radio and satellite telephones and was blown up in 1998.

Incorporations

On October 1, 1936, the communities Bergmoor and Schadewohl in the Salzwedel district merged to form a community with the name Schadewohl.

The district of Bergmoor came to Schadeberg on July 1, 1950 through the merger of Schadewohl and Dülseberg. Since November 1, 1992 (incorporation of Schadeberg in Diesdorf), the Bergmoor district has been part of the Diesdorf community.
