About this picture

Dehre is a municipality in the Altmarkkreis Salzwedel in Saxony-Anhalt .

geography

The Altmark church village of Dehre is located 18 kilometers southwest of the district town of Salzwedel on the Salzwedeler Dumme .

Community structure

The following districts are identified:

Hans-Jochen-Winkel

The municipal area is almost congruent with the "Hans-Jochen-Winkel" or "Hansjochenwinkel", a name especially popular in the 19th century for the region in the border area. The name should be traced back to the many men with the first names "Hans-Jochen" and "Hans-Joachim". According to other sources, the term comes from the Prussian Queen Luise , who coined it around 1810 in view of three Hans-Jochens from the region. The forest management association based in Dehre is still called “FBG Hans-Jochen-Winkel” today.

history

In 1220 a Henricus Prepositus de Dore was mentioned. As early as 1223, the Dähre Propstei was named as ecclesia in Dore , when Bishop Yso von Verden approved an exchange of goods between the Propstei and Lippold von Dore.

The village was first mentioned in documents in 1308 as villa Doren , when the castellan Gottfried Knappe von Thünen sold property to the Diesdorf monastery .

In 1362 the Buchmast (Bokmast) family gave their property in Dehre to the Diesdorf monastery.

In the Landbuch der Mark Brandenburg from 1375 the place was listed as Dore and belonged to the von dem Knesebeck . There was a caland in Dehre . To the northeast of the village was a watermill on the stupid one .

Culture and sights

  • The Evangelical Church of St. Andreas is located on Friedensstrasse. Extensive renovations took place in 1903/04, but its tower was demolished in 1939 after a collapse. The free-standing bell bearer north of the church dates from the 1950s.

Religions

The Protestant parish of Dehre used to belong to the parish of Dehre. Today it belongs to the parish of Osterwohle-Dehre with its seat in Dehre and thus to the parish of Salzwedel of the Evangelical Church in Central Germany .

The Catholic Church of St Anthony of Padua was on Friedensstrasse, behind a residential building on the street. In 1937 the Catholic Church in Dehre purchased a piece of land, and the service was initially held in a room in the house. In the early 1950s, the church was set up in the barn on the property. From 1941 to 1979 Dehre was curate and had its own clergyman, after which it belonged to the parish of St. Laurentius in Salzwedel. In 2015 the church was closed and became privately owned. Since then, Catholic services have been held in the Protestant community room.

The 2011 census in the European Union showed that around 41% of the 1541 inhabitants of the political community Dehre belonged to the Protestant Church and around 5% to the Roman Catholic Church.

traffic

Dehre was on the Salzwedel – Diesdorf railway line . The local rail transport was discontinued in May 1993 to Diesdorf and in December 1995 to Salzwedel. 1 April 1997 was followed by the closure .
